Yes, definitely the start of something great! After attending last night's meeting, I came away inspired. What an interesting and diverse group of writers. Having been in writing groups before, I was reminded of how fragile we all are--how insecure we can be about our work. I think we need to be more like our fellow member Art and just charge forward, write from our hearts, and see what we produce. From the passion felt throughout the room last night, I know there will be some amazing writing, and I, for one, can't wait to read, nurture, critique, and encourage.
Thanks to Don for being such a generous host. Your house is the perfect setting--so warm and open. Thanks to Carol and Lee for your leadership. We are clearly in good hands.
Looking forward to our next meeting. Now I better get to work and write in preparation for our "weigh in" the last Monday of September!
Wow, our first meeting was fantastic. One of the members suggested that we have a pot luck dinner for a "get to know one another" session on our 2nd meeting (the last Monday of the month) September 26. So Don & I will provide the main dish, spaghetti...please bring what you wish to compliment that. OK see you then. I'll email members individually in case they don't read this. Bye now, Don & Carol
I'll be there with dessert and an appetite. Yes, I saw the article, and I was even quoted! Wow, a first. Now I can say I am published!
I am so pleased and impressed with the web site and excited about working with our group. It really is pushing me to get moving with my novel. I've done a ton of research this summer, outlined my characters, and decided on structure and plot, even wrote a couple of pages. Now I am excited to dive in. (Also got my new horse settled, so I can now direct more energy to writing.)
I so appreciate all of your efforts and am thrilled to be a part of Mountain Writers. If I can help in any way, let me know.
At our first General Meeting, members were poled regarding their interests. The results:
13 networking / fellowship 10 feedback for work in progress 7 sharing marketing experiences, strategies 6 trips to book fairs, conferences, places of interest 6 hosting annual conferences, book fairs 6 book / film discussions / recommendations 5 invited speakers 5 self publishing member's work
The start of something great.
